ANTERIOR DISLOCATION OF SHOULDER
MECHANISM OF INJURY:
- FALL ON OUTSTRETCHED HANDS
- DIRECT BLOW ON THE POSTERIOR ASPECT OF THE SHOULDER.
TYPES:
- SUBCORACOID
- SUBGLENOID
- INFRACLAVICULAR
- INTRATHORACIC
CLINICAL FEATURES:
SEVERE PAIN AND ARM IS HELD IN ABDUCTION AND EXTERNAL ROTATION.
TREATMENT:
CLOSED REDUCTION UNDER GA USING THE KOCHER'S METHOD OF REDUCTION IS THE TREATMENT OF CHOICE.
PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT:
INITIAL 3 WEEKS: ITS A PHASEOF IMMOBILISATION.
AFTER 3 WEEKS:THE STRAPPING IS IS REMOVED AND THE LIMB IS SUPPORTED IN SLING.
