ACUTE TRANSVERSE MYELITIS :
ITS A ACUTE OR SUBACUTE MONOPHAGIC USUALY INFLAMMATORY DISORDER OF THE SPINAL CORD.
CAUSE:
ITS A POST INFECTIOUS DISORDER OF THE SPINAL CORD THAT IS SEEN FOLLOWING  AN EPISODE OF INFLUENZA,MUMPS,MEASLES OR INFECTION CAUSED BY EPSTEIN BARR VIRUS.IT CAN OCCUR AFTER INFECTION LIKE SMALLPOX,RABIES,ETC.
PATHOLOGY:
THERE IS AFFECTION OF WHITE AS WELL AS GRAY MATTER.SPINAL CORD APPEAR EDEMATOUS,HYPEREMIC AND INFILTRATED BY INFLAMMATORY CELLS.
CLINICAL FEATURE:
ONSET IS ACUTE OR SUBACUTE
DISEASE START AT BACK OR NECK AREA AND IS USUALLY LOCALIZED.
SPINE BECOMES TENDER
SENSORY LOSS
MOTOR LOSS
SPHINCTER DISTURBANCES.
TREATMENT :

MEDICAL TREATMENT CONSIST OF GLUCOCORTICOIDS AND

PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT IS MOST IMPORTANT AS PARAPLEGIA.
